Launching this autumn, propel scientific discovery

Accelerate science.
Transform the world we live in.

Every day, researchers push the boundaries of scientific knowledge to address the challenges of our time. Boost them in this vital work by funding the research projects that mean the most to you.

Healthcare

Over our lifetimes, few of us will be untouched by the world’s major diseases, whether as sufferers or as families. Help find cures for the diseases that afflict the lives of millions: support advances in healthcare and contribute to the fight against diseases such as cancer, Alzheimer’s, Parkinson’s, dementia and multiple sclerosis.

Climate change

Help researchers explore climate impacts and discover innovative technologies to mitigate the effects. As our world approaches a critical turning point, never has there been a more pressing need for innovative technologies to prevent and mitigate the impact of global warming. Build a sustainable future for all by supporting research into the most pressing issues for our climate and environment: boost scientific discovery in areas such as cleaner energy, the de-pollution of our oceans, and reducing the carbon impact of the way that we eat, shop and travel.

Computing

Computational power is essential to the scientific discovery process. Advances in areas such as quantum computing help underpin research in climate science and healthcare, and reduce the time taken to process their complex calculations and models. Help support research into the advancement of the power of computing, to the benefit of all fields of science.

Scientific research in universities has inspired the most exciting innovations of the last 100 years.

By funding research projects on the Science Card app, you can play an active part in today’s ground-breaking innovations.

Change the way scientific research is funded

You decide the shape of all our futures

By supporting scientific research through your Science Card account, you have the opportunity to build the world you would want to create.

Choose the projects that mean the most to you, and by contributing to them (and coming soon, voting on them) you accelerate their development - meaning that the research into the areas that are most important to you, gets done.

The research is the first, most essential stage towards mass adoption - without scientific research, the discoveries that we all now rely on would be unable to take place. And with your support, they take place sooner.

About our peer review panel

Evaluating high-impact research projects with the potential to build a better society.

Our peer review panel forms an essential part of our process to evaluate each project that we consider for funding. The panel is made up of more than 100 scientists from the UK, EU, US and Asia Pacific, typically senior academics at leading universities, specialising in the fields of healthcare, climate science and computing.  Their role is to evaluate the scientific viability and commercial potential of each project, ensuring its readiness for the support of Science Card customers.

Frequently asked questions

How does Science Card accelerate science through spending?

Science Card allows you to explore scientific research projects in the fields of climate change, healthcare and quantum computing. You can make financial contributions to the projects of your choice by rounding up your payments whenever you spend, or by contributing directly to a project - and Science Card also contributes 10% of its profits to its sourced research projects.

Once a project has reached its funding target, the funds are directed to the project’s institution, enabling the research to start without delay.

Science Card customers are able to follow the progress of the research projects in the Science Card app as the project receives funding from their contributions, and the project itself gets underway.

How can I contribute to specific research projects?

With Science Card, you can explore various research projects and choose the ones you want to support. You can make financial contributions to the projects of your choice by rounding up your payments whenever you spend, or by contributing directly to a project - and Science Card also contributes 10% of its profits to its sourced research projects. Your financial contributions will make a real impact on these projects.

How does Science Card ensure transparency in research funding?

At Science Card, we prioritise the thorough assessment of our science projects, evaluating both their scientific validity and ethical implications. These Projects undergo rigorous screening to ensure their feasibility and relevance, while our Ethics Review Board ensures alignment with ethical standards. Transparency and accountability are paramount, and our Science Card Team maintains continuous communication with funded labs, fostering collaboration and knowledge exchange. By upholding these principles, we aim not only to advance scientific discovery but also to ensure that our research contributes positively and responsibly to society.

Can I contribute to specific research fields through Science Card?

Our customers are able to contribute to any of our three research themes: climate change, healthcare and computing. Science Card supports a wide range of research projects, and you have the freedom to choose the fields within these themes that align with your interests and passions. Whether it's environmental sustainability, healthcare innovations, or technological advancements, your contributions can drive progress in your preferred research areas.

Can I support multiple research projects simultaneously?

Absolutely! With Science Card, you have the flexibility to support multiple research projects at the same time. Your financial contributions can be allocated to various projects based on your preferences, allowing you to make a diverse and meaningful impact.
